LISU Public Library Materials Fund and Budget Survey
The 2007/2009 Report is now available
Library managers, the book trade, academics and other interested parties all need reliable and up-to-date statistics. The Public Library Materials Fund and Budget Survey is an important source which takes the pulse at several important pressure points of the entire UK public library system.
The publication offers valuable comparisons as details of actual expenditure for a year are presented alongside the original estimates for that year. The latest budget estimates for individual library authorities are also included. Summary tables cover total library expenditure, total materials expenditure, expenditure on books and on audio-visual materials, professional and total staff, number of service points and opening hours. There is a detailed commentary giving sector totals, with tables showing the percentage changes from year to year.

Why go online?
The print directory is naturally restricted to around 3,000 main entries, but the 2009 online directory www.ukpublishers.net lists an additional 6,000 entries sourced from Nielsen Book’s extensive listings of active publishers.
The online directory also holds additional information for many publishers, and includes key personnel, subject and distribution specialisations, additional formats published, other goods and services supplied, and book trade membership affiliations.
